I have seen this spire for the past couple of weeks, being moved around parts of the city (It is not exactly hard to miss) it is incredible, when you get close there are people celebrating and worshipping all around it.
It is "The chariot procession of Rato Machhendranath" I found out from a local paper.
....And back to Godawari where the Esther Benjamin's Trust have two children's refuges. 
The girls refugee is just at the end of this road, the view is amazing! It's about 40 mins out of Kathmandu.
